Sermon Points:
Scripture Reference: Titus 3:3-8
Paul ends his letter to his co-worker Titus by appealing to the appearing of “our Savior.” In a world that is full of quarreling, envy and hatred, the goodness of God appeared as a baby in order to bring about salvation and transform His people into those that do good works.
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 6:10-24
Paul ends his letter by reminding his audience that they are in a fight. But it’s a fight not against not flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. Paul has already reminded the Ephesians that Christ is seated in the heavenly places above all rule and authority and power and dominion (1:20-21), and now Paul shows us how the work of Christ enables the church to stand against the devil who always wants darkness, death, and division.
Sermon Points:
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 6:1-4
You can’t sequester your beliefs when you enter the public sphere to make decisions as a Christian. But we need to start “local” by looking into what the Gospel says about our most fundamental relationships, that between parents and children. Paul has wisdom to spare in these (oddly) short verses.
Sermon Points:
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 5:22-33
Christians have lived through their fair share of mania regarding cultural discussions around the topic of gender roles. But have we always lived up to Paul’s ideal he sets forth in Ephesians 5? Probably not. When we see God’s complementary design for men and women, our marriages can flourish again.
